CALLA & MATT | fort lauderdale wedding
To round out our crazy busy wedding weekend in 2021, we headed down to Ft. Lauderdale for Calla and Matt’s beach micro wedding. We had such a great time! They chose the Beachcomber Resort in Ft. Lauderdale to host their wedding day.
We got to the resort the day before and got to lay on the beach with some cocktails while they prepared our room (we won’t talk about the 2 hours of sleep we got the night before and the fact that we were wearing long pants on the beach haha). Then in the morning, we just had to get dress and grab our stuff then take the elevator down just a couple of floors to the room where Calla was getting ready. It was so awesome to be right there!
Calla had a handful of details for me to photograph including the popcorn mixes they got to create themselves (which were delicious). While I snapped those photos, Jessica photographed Calla getting ready with her cousins, aunts, and mom. It was so laid back and fun. Before Calla vacated the room for Matt to get ready, she read Matt’s vows to her. Once Matt was ready, he read the vows that Calla had written to him.
When everyone was ready, we all went down to the beach. I got to serve as coordinator since it was so laid back, just to help things run a little more smoothly. The ceremony was performed by Calla’s mom, so it was very personal for them. Calla and Matt also did a sand ceremony. We loved the simple, yet beautiful beach decorations surrounding them for the ceremony with the ocean right behind them.
The reception was simple with a couple of short speeches from Calla’s little cousin and her brother. They also had brunch food from the resort restaurant. The dances were so sweet with Calla and her grandpa then both and Calla and Matt with each of their moms. We had so much fun with their whole family!
We snapped some portraits out on the beach, which eventually landed them in the ocean. Then we said “hey would you mind jumping in the pool with your wedding clothes on?” And they both gave us a resounding “yep let’s do it!” We love that photo of them jumping in with their family! After we were done with their wedding photos, Jessica and I got to enjoy the resort pool and some delicious food and cocktails to make it feel like a mini vacay.
The next day we all woke up pretty early to meet up for a sunrise session. We drove a few miles down to the pier. It was such a beautiful backdrop for photos and the rain clouds held off long enough for us to get some great photos.
We loved being a part of Calla and Matt’s beach micro wedding! And can’t wait till we get to do another destination wedding- passports are ready too!
